Drifting Away Again

“One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.” -Andre’ Gide

I read this quote recently and found it SO on point.  How often do we set off for something new and exciting only to turn the boat around when we get scared because the old life/ways/people/places/things we’re used to begin to fade away?  In my case, pretty often .. though I never realized that’s what it was.

We all have a comfort zone whether we like to admit it or not.  That comfort is usually tied securely to some things that are not so good for us.  Habits, negative talk, the wrong job, a house, a friend, even a spouse can all be damaging things we need and WANT to, but don’t know HOW to leave behind.  Or we know how, but as soon as we get uncomfortable, we go running right back.

What has been holding you back?  Are you willing to leave it behind to get what you want? Let’s go sailing!
